Thursday Night Cycling

So I wore my heart rate monitor this time at my cycling class. In 90 minutes I burned 960 calories. Wheeee! It was fun and it gets me to push myself (somewhat). It is a motivation to lose weight too. There are 8 people in the class all hooked up to computerized bike trainers and riding on their own bikes. The teacher inputs everyone's body weight into the program. You then see little icons of yourselves going across the screen as you ride. It takes into account the power you generate and your weight and then calculates how 'fast' you are going and who is ahead of each other etc. The crappy thing is that because I am the heaviest girl I am the 'slowest' based on the computer's calculations of watt per kg. Even though I generate decent power (watts) my higher weight number results in the computer calculating that I am going slower. Grrrr.... Maybe competition will help me to drop some weight. I guess I am a little bit competitive. Everyone is very nice and there is no outward competition but it is in my head.

960 freakin calories!

Disappearing People

I have been involved in weight loss support over the Internet for about a year and a half. I started out by doing a video blog on YouTube and met many nice people there. When I was very into it I would watch everyone's videos. For a while now I have only been watching videos from people who I am most interested in. It is not that some people are more interesting than others but just that I may have started watching them a year ago or they are people who have always supported me by making comments. Anyways, I realize that sometimes people need a break and they stop posting. But when people delete their accounts without a trace that is a bummer. It is always nice when they come back and especially nice when they come back with a new blog or Youtube Channel! Hello Angela! Anyone else lurking out there? Anyone with a name starting with a K? :)

A Beautiful Post well worth Reading

Go Check it out.

http://runsarsrun.blogspot.com/2008/10/empowering-myself-one-step-at-time.html

It starts like this:

Empowering myself, one step at a time

I have had a negative image of myself, particularly of my face and body since, well, forever. I was always the fat girl. I was always the girl struggling for recognition, trying to compensate with my personality but never having quite the ability to keep up the fake energy. See enough of me for too long and you start to see the things I can't cover up all the time, like the bitterness and the self loathing and the desperation, loneliness, the enormous jealousy. Fat girls are supposed to have great personalities. Fat girls are supposed to be smart. Fat girls never get the attention - they're always the sidekick, the one who will hold their skinny girlfriend's purse when she's out on the dance floor. No one can see who the fat girl is behind all her fat; all her excess pounds are a barrier she puts up between her and the world so that no one gets close enough. So that no one sees that she is screaming inside, though she pretends to be happy.

Friday

Friday is strength homework day.

I am considering only doing upper body and abs because making my legs sore screws with my running.

Friday would probably be a good day to swim but I seem extremely adverse to going to the pool after the kids go to bed. Hmmm.....

I will edit this post later to report on what excercise I end up doing. Doing none is not an option. My legs have recovered from personal training on Tuesday and seem OK after the cycling. Perhaps I should do strength and a run?

Update:

So I got my run in. I decided to take bus far and run 4K away from my house. I was trying to figure out how to carry my coins and had them in one of my son's plastic poke-balls. I then decided to put them in the pocket of my water bottle holder (but not take a water bottle, too heavy). Anyways, somehow in the transfer I managed to put $1.50 into my water bottle holder instead of $2.50 so at the end of my run I had to walk back! The funny thing is that the run took me 30 minutes and the walk took 45 but according to my heart rate monitor the walk burned my calories. Hmmmmmmmm....

I then took the kids to a birthday party and to make a long story short I will be doing the upper body and abs strength today either before or after taking daughter to 2 lessons. Fun times!

Thursday

Gotta love my friend Hazel. She got me to sign up for a cycling class. First class was tonight and we got to bike beside each other. It really kicked my ass. I forgot my heart rate strap though so I don't know how many calories I burned.

It was good to be doing something athletic-y again. I have been sucked into the mommy-void for the past 2 months. Gotta get back to making myself a priority again.

Also: Thanks to you guys who comment. It is always exciting to get comments and I am a slacker for not commenting back. Bad Sparky!

Tuesday

Had my weekly personal training session. Unfortunately since I went down to only once a week I have not been doing strength training on my own another time in the week and it really shows. Doing 2 sets of pushups from the knees was hard. I really must do my 'homework'. According to my HRM I burned 680 calories in 50 minutes. I felt really weak though.

At 8pm I did half an hour on my bike. That was only about 200 calories. I guess it is good that I was on there. Sure going longer would have been better but oh well.

Monday

So,

Some of you perceptive people may have clued into the fact that I have not been posting much. If you were extra perceptive you would know that that means that I have not been working out or eating well.

When I think about it, my little siesta has been going on since I went East at the end of July. That is when I broke my stride. Oh no, oh no, I've got to keep on going!

Anyways, in September it got worse. Kid started school, other kid started preschool, changed my work days and then son started hockey. Also, husband has been on hiatus from working out so no positive peer pressure there.

These may sound like excuses but I am not trying to excuse myself.

I am kind of thankful that I am signed up for something that I cannot escape. Failure is not an option. I have made the road steeper for myself to be sure but I must get there. (Half Ironman Triathlon in June). The other half of me is kicking myself for signing up. Crap!!!

I feel like I am back at square one. I have lost the running fitness that I built in the summer but so be it. Thursday I start my group cycling class.

I keep toying with the idea of getting a treadmill for home. I am a little worried about getting my running training in over the nasty winter. Hmmm.... What to do, what to do!

The upside to a treadmill at home versus going to the gym is that I can do it anytime (without having to factor in childcare) and I can do it for longer than the 30 minute time limit at the gym. Am I really going to do 2 hour long runs on a treadmill though? I've never been a treadmill runner so it seems unlikely.

Anyways... No hockey tonight. No excuses not to workout. I must get something done. Schedule says I am supposed to run. And run I shall! Schedule also says 8 hills for Wednesday. WTF? Um, no I don't think so...

A Week?

It has been a week since I updated? Ooops!

Yesterday I had a workout with my regular trainer's associate. (since my trainer is off on another trip). She was quite nice and gave me a hard workout.

My dad and step mom are visiting from the east and last weekend was Thanksgiving. I have not exactly been on track. I have not weighed myself since sometime last week. Can you say D-E-N-I-A-L?

Not long now until my 8K uphill race. I am not prepared one iota.

My cycling class starts soon too.

Need to get my act in gear!

Congrats to Seabreeze for pushing herself to the limit on her recent 8K race.

Tuesday

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday - zero excercise. Away at the B&B. Did not go crazy but was did not abstain from delicious snacky cakes either.

Today: Personal Trainer workout. 10 minutes running on treadmill followed by many torturous upper and lower body moves, then 3 miles on the stationary bike.

If the stars align I plan to get on the Eliptical and burn up some calories while watching last night's episode of Heros.

On Friday morning my weight was 192.2. Monday morning it was 194.4. This morning it was 193. I need to get back to 191.4 which was my weight about 2 weeks ago. These pounds must enjoy coming on and off my body.

Maintaining, schmaintaining. Truth is in March I fit into size 12 jeans and was 183 pounds. I started wearing my 14s at one point and now those are snug. Truth is I have been wearing my size 16s around too and those have become snug. YIKES!!! you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet you can not out train a bad diet .

Yesterday I managed to keep my calories to 1800 and I am around there again today if I stop eating for the night which I should because it is 7:30 at night.

My will power is strong, my cravings are low. Things are good. However in approximately 21 days I will be crazy again. Freaking hormones. Maybe I should write this on my calendar. "Warning: Junk food cravings imminent. Warning!!!" I wonder if that would help. Crap, I just realized that Halloween falls smack dab in the middle of the next crazy-time. Oh dear!

Thursday

Did 1 hour on Eliptical yesterday (Wednesday). 630+ calories. Watched an episode of Deadwood on the DVD player because kids were watching Treehouse (had wanted to watch Biggest Loser on the PVR)

I am a bad bad bad baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad procrastinator. It is 9:20pm on Thursday and I am not packed for my Scrapbooking weekend.

It is 9:20pm and I have not worked out.

Crap!

I have several options.

1. Go outside and run hills in the dark and pack tomorrow.
2. Get on the Eliptical and burn up calories and pack tomorrow.
3. Finish packing and go to bed and do no excercise
4. Do neither and just go to bed.

I would be a dumbass to do #4. Number 3 will put me in the best shape for the weekend but I hate that I will have skipped a workout.

Crap Crap Crap! Stupid procrastinator. Why the hell do people procrastinate????

Angie: To answer your question... My eating has been random, unplanned and mostly of easy to eat things and therefore bad. I am back up in the 190s and feeling like a jackass :)
